The Wyatt Trust’s Thought Leader Series, “Homelessness: Moving to Solutions”

Professor Andrew Beer, Director of the Centre for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning (CHURP) at Adelaide University, was the guest presenter at The Wyatt Trust’s External Thought Leader Event on Wednesday, 19th June.

Andrew’s presentation entitled “Homelessness: Moving to Solutions” provided guests with an overview of:

  • homelessness in Australia and in Adelaide
  • the extent of the level of homelessness amongst people with a psychiatric and non-psychiatric disability
  • the role of local government and frontline services in addressing homelessness
  • excellent examples of successful models of housing and support services.

Andrew challenged everyone present to continue striving for innovative and effective responses to the issue of homelessness, particularly “at the point where precarious housing slips into homelessness”.

The event was well attended by representatives from the community, philanthropic and government sectors.
