With qualifications in Law, Commerce, and a Masters in Energy and Resources combined with 10 years in public policy and strategic advice – including work on the Nuclear Royal Commission and Aboriginal reconciliation – Owen Sharpe is eager to apply his experience in new ways.
“I want to be part of something bigger” he explains. “Energy affects everyone, and energy poverty is rising. Climate change threatens to deepen this inequality.”
Working to achieve fairness in the energy transition is a force that drives Owen.
“The challenge is transforming the system so that the benefits aren’t limited to those who can afford it, potentially leaving others behind,” he says.
Having recently joined the Board of Governors at Wyatt, Owen says he was drawn to the Trust’s truth-telling journey and reconciliation efforts.
“I am proud of my Aboriginal heritage, and there couldn’t be a more exciting time to be part of Wyatt’s work,” he explains.
Passionate about family including raising his three young children, sport and the outdoors, Owen is committed to making a difference.
“I believe South Australia is a great place to live and want to do my part” he says.
“I value Wyatt’s long-term vision. It’s been driving positive change for more than a century and will continue to create positive change for
generations to come.”
